The Rdt surface texture parameter measures the areas of steep slopes in the roughness profile. Controlling local slopes on a surface can be important for things like gaskets sealing, bearing noise, etc. The dt calculation can also be performed on the waviness profile (Wdt) and primary profile (Pdt).
