The Rz surface texture parameter measures the average peak to valley height of the roughness profile. Ra describes the overall surface roughness while excluding extreme points that may be caused by dirt, extreme porosity, etc. The same calculation can be performed on the waviness profile (Wz) and primary profile (Pz).
