3D printable cylinder bore and piston ring textures

A while ago we showed you how you can print 3D surface textures directly from OmniSurf3D.

Over the last couple of years we’ve been using some 3D printed cylinder bore samples at our talks and teaching sessions…

…and a lot of you requested files so that you could print your own. Well…we heard you, and here you go!

Viewing surface data in OmniSurf3D software is almost the best way to see and explore it. But you can take it one step further and 3D print a surface that you can actually hold in your hand. In this video we show you how you can 3D print surface texture from OmniSurf3D that you can see, touch, and share.

This new 60-Second Surface Analysis video shows you how to create an STL file in OmniSurf3D that you can use to 3D print your surfaces. The samples make great visual aids and help explain what’s really happening in a texture.

Download these free STL files below to print your own samples of common cylinder bore textures. You can also download the 3D data for these textures via our Surface Library! These files are in .os3d format to explore using our OmniSurf3D software.  These surfaces are from a 1×1 mm area. The XY scaling is 100x and the Z scaling is 1500x. Thus the peaks and valleys are exaggerated 10x.
