This dataset is featured in our article, Analyzing additive surfaces with directional filtering. The small particles of partially-melted power are challenging to quantify. The striped pattern created by the additive manufacturing process makes the particles difficult to isolate. Directional filters—a standard feature of OmniSurf3D software—make it possible to suppress the ridges while retaining the features that we care about.
